Not a reference to former Attorney General John Ashcroft but rather homage to one of the greatest rock bands ever. The Eagles are on TV right now and are amazing. Song after song after song is incredible. These guys look rather old and the beat is a little slower than I remember it on their Greatest Hits albums but none-the-less these guys are amazing. Each member doing their own solos is unreal to watch. I’ve never seen them live but if it’s anything like it was on NBC tonight I have definitely been missing out. I’m not really sure why they chose Melbourne, Australia for their last gig (not that there’s anything wrong with Australia) but I would have expected a somewhat more local venue. The big joke of course being that it isn’t really their last gig. The title of the show is great; Eagles Farewell I Tour. I hope they have more farewell tours in the future. These guys can only get better over time.

It’s just blowing my mind how many hits these guys are going through right now; Peaceful Easy Feeling, One of These Nights, Already Gone, Take It To the Limit, Dirty Laundry, Heartache Tonight, Life in the Fast Lane, Hotel California, Rocky Mountain Way, All She Wants To Do Is Dance, Take It Easy, Desperado and on and on and on…….
I remember listening to a David Spade comedy album once and he joked about the difference between seeing Lynard Skynard and The Eagles in concert. He said that when he saw Lynard Skynard he thought that every song they sang should have been called “Not Freebird,” since that’s basically why everyone was there to see them. And that when he saw the Eagles, they had the balls to open with “Hotel California,” as if to say, “Oh yeah, they’re all this good.” Hilarious!
