Kansas Mentors

Kansans will now find it easier to connect with mentoring efforts around the state with today’s launch of Kansas Mentors’ newly redesigned Web site at www.kansasmentors.org, a partnership with Kansas.gov. “Since our beginning in 2006, we have been dedicated to recruiting mentors for every young Kansan,” said Kansas State head football coach, Bill Snyder, Chair of Kansas Mentors. “With more people communicating electronically, our enhanced site will be a crucial component to provide every Kansan with the resources they need to make a difference in a young person’s life.” The...

KanSite: The Content Management System

KanSite (http://www.kansas.gov/kansite) was created as a Web site content management system for Kansas governmental entities. KanSite is easy to use, improves public access to government services, reduces service-processing costs, and enables governments to deliver a higher quality of services to their constituents. KanSite provides the ability to easily create and maintain a Web site without prior programming or design experience. This content management system is specifically designed for state and municipal governments and offers a full range of solutions for Web design and management. The...

Kansas Business Center

The Kansas Business Center is one of the more high profile Web sites that I have redesigned. This is a multi-agency collaborative effort and a multi-phased project with one simple objective – to provide business owners and entrepreneurs information, filings and personal assistance to starting and maintaining a Kansas business. This web site was built using the Yahoo User Interface Library for HTML and CSS as well as the jQuery javascript library. This project launched on January 5, 2009.

Kansas.gov

The Official Web site of the State of Kansas. This is probably one of the most complex designs that I have worked on as a designer.  The Kansas.gov portal is a tremendous resource for Kansans as it includes a visitor guide, history, government and business information.  The site was launched in June of 2007 and is the product of a multi-department collaboration.  I was responsible for numerous mockups as well as implementation of the Yahoo User Interface CSS framework and HTML coding.  Thousands of visitors come to this site every month and it has been nominated for a Best of the Web...

Kansas Veterans Affairs

This is the Official Web site for Kansas Veterans. The primary goal of this site is to provide information and resources for veterans and their families in the fields of education, health, vocational guidance and placement and economic security. This was a redesign project and probably one of the largest that I have ever built. Over 100 pages of content were migrated into this design over a period of 2-3 months. In addition to the design mockups and hand coding of the HTML and CSS I also provided Dreamweaver Training to the Veterans’ Affairs staff to be able to maintain the content of...
