Let The Eagles Soar

Posted by on Jun 1, 2005 in Personal Interests | Comments Off

Not a reference to former Attorney General John Ashcroft but rather homage to one of the greatest rock bands ever. The Eagles are on TV right now and are amazing. Song after song after song is incredible. These guys look rather old and the beat is a little slower than I remember it on their Greatest Hits albums but none-the-less these guys are amazing. Each member doing their own solos is unreal to watch. I’ve never seen them live but if it’s anything like it was on NBC tonight I have definitely been missing out. I’m not really sure why they chose Melbourne, Australia for their last gig...

I Gave In

I finally decided that if I wanted a really good e-mail account that I might as well get it from the company I’ve come to rely on for most everything. As of June 1 I will no longer be using my Yahoo e-mail account (I actually pay the $20/year fee for POP access) and have decided to take advantage of the sweet .Mac sale going on right now. I can get the .Mac account for $30.00 off the retail $99.99 price. I realize I’m actually paying more for an e-mail (some of you may grimace at paying for e-mail – I used to be just like you) but I believe this will be the answer for my particular...

A recent post by Christopher Breen inspired me to modify my iPod to display the battery life in numeric format. The default battery indicator icon looked fine but didn’t provide enough information as to the total amount of time remaining. This may not be important to some, but if you are like me and use your Backlight pretty much all the time, even during the day, knowing exactly how much time you have left can prove to be rather important. Anyway, I tried the simple modification which took less than 5 minutes to complete and thought I’d post a couple pictures of what it looks like since...

My Life Poster

I’ve been struggling to find the time to finish this simple project for about a week now. I believe it really should take about 20-30 min. if you’ve got good images that are ready to go. I however was not so lucky. I had to alter in some way or another all 98 photos to get the exact look I wanted. Due to the fact that I have several thousand photos in iPhoto, I had to decide early on what 98 photos whould win a coveted spot in my life poster. The easiest solution I could come up with was to pick 98 photos per year. Sort of like a poster sized yearbook. So, in this case I chose the year...

Punxsatawney Phil Connors

Punxsatawney Phil Connors

Can’t help but get through this day without remembering what Groundhog Day means to me. I was senior in high school when this movie was released and it still holds up after nearly 12 years. Phil Connors: “This is one time where television really fails to capture the true excitement of a large squirrel predicting the weather.” Unfortunately, I do not share the same passion as do the residents of Punxsatawney, PA. I can’t even say Gobbler’s Knob without smirking. Something about that tradition just isn’t right. BTW – Phil says 6 more weeks of winter! Thanks Captain...
